Gold Medal of Navarra to Manuel Torres

TRIBUTE TO A FIRST-CLASS NAVARRO

Posthumously and amidst the emotion of his family, Manuel Torres, founder of MTorres, has received the Gold Medal of Navarra 2025. The highest recognition awarded by the Regional Government was received by his widow, Amparo Lusarreta, president of the company, from the President of the Government of Navarra, María Chivite.

The candidacy of Manuel Torres was promoted by ASPACE Navarra, whose president, David Erice, had the opportunity to explain the reasons for the recognition. In his opinion, Manuel Torres "was a visionary, a discreet genius and an tireless worker, with a life full of business successes in which he not only built companies, but built opportunities from simplicity and solidarity".

"But beyond his professional achievements," said Erice, "his life embodies values closely linked to this land, such as effort, commitment and humanity". Erice highlighted "Torres´ ability to look beyond and focus on people, with service to the common good as a maxim".

Erice, who highlighted Torres´ commitment to charitable initiatives, wanted to conclude with one of his phrases: "You have to believe in others".

Eduardo Torres, son of Manuel, said that "if he had been here today in person, he would have said: Thanks to Navarra from a first-class Navarro, because, not having been born here, I feel Navarro by choice". His son thanked "the long collaboration with ASPACE Navarra, which has been a source of pride and gratitude for our family and company".

He concluded by saying that "I feel that perhaps today San Francisco Javier is placing this Medal on Manuel in heaven, sealing a destiny of dedication, innovation and love for this land that his entire family feels and confirms".

María Chivite highlighted that "five years after leaving us, the future that Manuel imagined is increasingly a tangible reality; a success that he would attribute to the collective, but that would not be possible without individuals like him, who understood that making mistakes is part of learning, not a failure".

"´Tell me your problem and I´ll give you the solution´ he used to say to his clients; that was Manuel Torres, a creative, resilient person capable of generating value in our land".

Yolanda Torres, his daughter, said that "he´s not here, although for us, he is; my father filled everything, he was very intense and his absence is noticeable".

Yolanda Torres, Vice President of MTorres, has received the AMEDNA award from the President María Chivite, a recognition that coincides with the emotional 50th anniversary of the company. The jury unanimously awarded her leadership for having doubled turnover in recent years, promoted international innovation and maintained a strong social commitment through her foundation.

At a gala held yesterday at the Hotel Tres Reyes in Pamplona, Yolanda Torres received the award, which is annually promoted by the Association of Businesswomen and Executives of Navarra (AMEDNA), with the aim of making visible and highlighting the professional career that businesswomen and executives develop with their daily work in the economic, labor and social sphere of our community.

The event was attended by prominent personalities from the institutional and business world, including the President of the Government of Navarra, María Chivite, who was in charge of handing over the award to the Vice President of MTorres.

In her speech after receiving the award, Yolanda Torres underlined the special relevance that the prize had for her, since it coincided with the 50th Anniversary of the company founded by her father, Manuel Torres, whose vision, commitment and values have been the bases that have driven the company´s trajectory.

"It hasn´t been easy, especially in the last five years, but we have been able to overcome difficulties and generate new opportunities thanks to the team that is part of MTorres today," she said, before dedicating the award to the professionals who work with her every day.

"This award is a recognition of our effort and dedication and the importance of the role of women in society and the economy," she said, addressing Maite Pérez, General Manager of Electricidad BatVol, distinguished as Navarra Executive of the Year, and Lucía Vanrell, co-founder of Nanogrow Biotech and recognized as Navarra Entrepreneur 2025.

"I commit to continue working with passion and dedication to inspire and support those who seek to achieve their goals in the business world," declared Yolanda Torres after thanking AMEDNA for the award, "and, of course, to continue honoring the memory and legacy of my father, which continue to be the inspiration and purpose behind everything we do".

The jury of the contest has unanimously valued Yolanda´s leadership in an internationally renowned company in industrial automation and aerospace technology, in which she has promoted its global expansion, technological innovation and team cohesion in seven countries.

Under her direction, the company has experienced sustained growth, doubling its turnover between 2021 and 2024, and reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, equality and talent development.

In addition, Yolanda Torres combines strategic vision and social sensitivity, since the MTorres Foundation channels social, educational and international cooperation projects with a focus on childhood and vulnerable groups, and actively participates in entities such as the Isaac Peral Foundation, COTEC, Ilundáin and AIN.

The Gold Medal of Navarre is the highest honor bestowed by the regional government, awarded annually to recognize exemplary actions, both personal and collective, as perceived by the public. It aims to highlight contributions to democratic values, the promotion of solidarity initiatives, and work for the benefit of the community

The award also seeks to recognize achievements that contribute to building a more just and equitable society across various fields, including culture, social work, gender equality, women´s social contributions, the promotion of education, health, the environment, social progress, enhancing Navarre´s image abroad, and, as in this year´s case, the business sector.

The jury, comprised of officials from different departments of the Navarre Regional Government, may propose up to three candidates to the Government of Navarre from among all those submitted for the Gold Medal.
